Pointe de Chavasse (2012m)

An afternoon ski tour and the mountain to ourselves. Just below the summit there's an icy section with a 100m death plunge below it. We decided to leave the skis and walk up the last section since the consequences of getting it wrong on the way down looked terminal. Photo shows my father on the summit and enjoying the rays at about 4pm.

Mittergrat, Kühtai

This is one without the sun and not blue ;-). Matze doing a powder turn!! .... ok ok ok, actually there was no powder ... Matze is taking a snow crystal sample... OK! ... he simply crashed big time ;-).

But of course there are some more of these cheesy sun and blue sky captures over at alpinepics.net.

Catching the last of the light

Finishing an afternoon tour in great light off Haute Pointe (1958m) in the Haute Savoie. Quite hot on the skin up through wet snow then later on the temperature dropped like a stone and the snow froze to make a hard crust. Man, that was challenging to ski.

Haute Savoie

Nice to see some sun for a change:-)

Pitztal

Been to the Pitztal today. Snow was sh**t, company was fun :-) and the sky was blue as blue can be. Didn't go all the way to the top as avalanche danger was a bit to high on the final slopes. Matze is doing a turn for the camera. For some more captures visit alpinepics.net.

Tête de Bostan (2406m), Haute Savoie

Father and I decided to take the late shift up this fine peak above Samoens. Snow was a little wet on the skin up lower down but higher up it improved. Summit views were majestic. Had a Talisker and some food on top before skiing back down at about 3pm. By that time the snow was cooling off and the sunset light starting. Pic shows my father enjoying some powder just above the Col de la Golese.

Sattelberg

Please have a look at alpinepics.net, you'll find some more captures like this one :-). Matze is hiking up towards Sattelberg high above the Brenner, which, for a change, wasn't windy at all!...
